Social Web Literacy

We'll be discussing the Social Web and how knowing about it can help us make libraries more relevant to our social web savvy patrons.

We've been working with a few tag clouds this week so I thought I'd experiment with one for our class. A lot of the words and terms we've been talking about show up here and, like any good tag cloud, the important ones show up more prominently.

Now that YOU have a blog, add a comment here. Leave your first name and your blog's URL in your comment so other people in class can see it. And please let us know what you thought of the class and about any experiences you have as you explore the Social Web.

Last month, TIME magazine put the Social Web on its cover. This month, School Library Journal has a Second Life avatar flying over a school building. These words and images are becoming part of our global culture.

Now that you're a part of it, add a comment to this posting. Tell us what you thought of the class, and maybe share some of your Social Web experiences after you have "played" a bit. Be sure to add your first name. And copy and paste your blog's URL so others in class can visit you.

Participate. Experience. Interact. That's the Social Web.

Thank you for participating in the second Social Web Literacy class. You are experimenting with a phenomenon that is rapidly impacting the library world -- and the world in general.

Please leave a comment or two. Tell us what you thought of the class and maybe some of your experiences as you wandered the Social Web on your own. Be sure to copy and paste your blog's URL into a comment, as well, so others in the class may find you.
